The Moral Compass Chronicles
Unexpected Support From All The Right Places
Support can be a double-edged sword for entrepreneurs and creators alike. In this reflective chronicle, we explore the often frustrating journey of seeking support from friends and family, only to realize that the support often comes from the most unexpected places.
What's going on? What's going on? Welcome to another rendition of the Moral Compass Chronicles. I am your man, I'm your host, I'm your tour guide, eon Johnson. You can find me everywhere. You can find me on Instagram, twitter, tiktok. Eon J. That's E-Y-O-N, j-a-y-y two Y's at the end Eon Johnson on YouTube. Eon Johnson on Facebook. Another day, another chronicle. I'm glad to be here.
Speaker 1:I've been working on a lot of different things and so I just want to dive right in here, man. I want to dive right in. Over the last few weeks, I've been dealing with a lot of different things, and when I say a lot of different things, when I say a lot of different things, I'm talking about life. Man, let's be honest, life really be life in. I mean yo, I feel like if y'all could give me an amen on that, you would, because I'm, almost, I am, I am a hundred percent sure that life has been life, and for just about every single one of us now, whether whether that's a good thing, a bad thing, you know, ups, downs, ebbs and flows. We all deal with it, and that's exactly what we are doing. We are dealing with it and we are handling our business. So you keep on doing that, Um, keep on tapping and keep on tuning in with me. I'm gonna do my best to you know, add a little light to that in whatever way that I can, All right, and so, as we press on here, I have been thinking about a lot of different topics and a lot of different stuff.
Speaker 1:I got a lot of things that I want to talk about. I know the last chronicle we had here was about comparing and envying and things of that nature, and even over the last few weeks, this one particular thought has been on my mind in regards to, well, a few different things, but this one in particular, um, in regards to business owners and entrepreneurs and content creators, bloggers, whatever it is, whatever it is your niche is and whatever it is that you're doing and the support level that you find that you have been receiving or lack thereof. You have been receiving or lack thereof. I know it's a touchy subject to some degree, and a lot of us are doing a lot of different things. I know I got friends who are streamers as well. Streaming is becoming a really big thing and we're doing a lot of stuff. We're doing a lot of stuff, and, if I can be fully transparent and I will use myself as the example and you feel free to find yourself in that. All right.
Speaker 1:Now I have started this podcast and I have continued creating the content and a lot of editing involved and a lot of different aspects of it. Right, the podcast. And we've got Instagram and YouTube and TikTok these different platforms and a lot of us are using these different platforms for a lot of different things. If you're a business owner, now, you have the business itself, right, you have your business and you're promoting your business, you're working on your business and you're also as far as the promotion goes, you're using some of these platforms, maybe, and you have your website and all of these different things, now, the support that you feel you have been receiving in these different avenues, with the business itself, with the podcast. If you're a podcaster, like myself, with the Instagram content and the YouTube blogs and videos and the TikTok and the streaming the Twitch and all of these different things, right, and the TikTok and the streaming the Twitch and all of these different things, right, people, you know, like I said, entrepreneurs as well. I'm thinking about clothing lines. My wife has a event planning business and all of these different things.
Speaker 1:We all have our thing right and you feel like you have not been getting the support that you thought you would get and you haven't been getting the support, quite frankly, that you hoped for, right. I'm here to talk a little bit about that today. Man I, when I started this podcast and this, the content creation, I really had a preconceived idea in my mind about where my support would come from and what the support would look like. And I feel like oftentimes we do that and we find ourselves getting disappointed. Sometimes I find myself right. I've been disappointed or let down because the support that I thought I was going to be getting from this place or from this person I was going to be getting from this place or from this person that support has not been there, right. And so I'm here to talk about that and maybe even encourage you, whoever you are, just a little bit on that, because I have come to recognize, bro, that that support oftentimes is not going to come from where you think it's going to come from.
Speaker 1:If you're in a business, you own a business, or you're in sales of some sort, you provide a service of some sort. I have family members, friends, who have businesses that provide services as well. I know for a fact that you can relate to this also and you have, like myself, probably felt at times like you wanted support from certain areas and certain people and that support, quite honestly, has not been there the way you had hoped for. I have come to understand and to realize that your support is not going to come from where you think it will. I have seen that myself. There are people who I thought was going to support and now people who I thought were going to support this podcast and support my content creation. Support this podcast and support my content creation, especially because of what I believe it's rooted in truth and morality. Right, it's coming from a good place. It is to help and to educate to some degree, to steer in a good direction. The support has not come from those people and those places a lot of times.
Speaker 1:Now shout out to all my people who have been supporting me, the ones who I know and the ones who I'm close to excuse me and the ones who have been supporting Like. I truly appreciate that and, if I can be honest, this podcast has received much more support and listens and followers and subscribers and downloads than I ever thought. We're encroaching on 500. By the time this gets to you, we'll probably already be at 500 downloads or more, because we're very close right now and that's with what? Six episodes, or this being the seventh potentially. That is a blessing. I feel extremely blessed, and that is in spite of the fact that, yo, I swore I was going to get support and listens and encouragement and the likes and the this and that from certain people in certain places.
Speaker 1:I had that idea in my mind, yo, I know, if I start this thing, that I more than likely even spoke to certain people about before I even started it. There are some people who I spoke to before I started this thing, or when I was in the beginning stages of the content creation, before the podcast even came to be, and those people, quite honestly, are like, nowhere to be found, or at least I feel like that. Right, and I'm not talking about anybody in particular. So, like, if you feel like I'm talking about you, I'm probably not, because I'm not even singling out anybody in my mind right now, but if the shoe fits, then hey, it is what it is, that's for.
Speaker 1:Honestly, though, I have found, man, that the support has truly come from places and from people I did not see coming. I was expecting the reposts and the support to come from right here in front of me, in front of my face, these people this one, that one, this one, that one and yes, of course my mom supports and my wife supports and my brothers and my sisters support me and I love y'all. Right, I expected the support to come from these areas in my life and when it didn't come in this, other places that I expected I found myself disappointed and discouraged, even because it's like yo, if I can't even reach my people, if I can't even reach and this is a testimony and hopefully somebody can relate to this I can't even reach, and this is a testimony and hopefully somebody can relate to this if I can't even reach my people, if I can't even reach my village, how in the world am I going to reach the masses? And it's funny because that's really like the power of social media. This is the power of the internet, like I noticed on one of my videos, that one of my videos on on youtube that was derived, um from the podcast it's like a clip of the podcast episode. One of those videos has it's like 70 of the viewers on the video, which, which has two 3,000 viewers. 70% are from non-followers and then the 30% of the engagement is from actual followers of mine and I really don't have that many followers, I have like 1500 followers but 30% of that engagement came from the people that actually follow me and 70% came from God knows where. That is my testimony.
Speaker 1:I am mind blown when I see the support coming from other countries. For real it's. I was looking for the support, I was looking for the support, I was looking for the engagement, I was looking for the reposts and um, the comments and the likes from the people in my village right here in front of me, but instead the support is coming from the north no pun intended coming from canada. Who in canada listening to me? Who is watching me in Canada? The support is coming from the East Europe and beyond Africa. The support is coming from the West, all the way through and past California. Who is? I know one person that's listening to me in California. Shout out to my sis. But who? Why is there 10 people listening to me in California? I don't know 10 people in California. There's support coming from the South, as far as South America. Where and how is that even possible?
Speaker 1:That is a testament to your diligence. That is going to be the testimony of your consistency, your steadfastness. You're going to expect that the support and the reposts and all of these different things is going to come from your village, right here in front of you, the people you can see, you can touch, you can relate to right here. But as you continue to be steadfast, as you continue to work on your craft, as you continue to run your business, as you continue to serve the people that your business serves and your purpose serves, watch me now as you continue to serve in your purpose and you walk in your calling and you do the things that you know that you are called to do. Don't worry about where the support is going to come from. Don't worry about where the monetization is going to come from. All right, because it more than likely will not come from the people that you think it's going to come from. Odds are your support, your sales are going to come from people who find you on one of these platforms.
Speaker 1:I've been focusing on Instagram. I've been focusing on Instagram. I've been focusing on the podcast and Instagram. Why? Because that's where, for whatever reason, that's where my attention is. I had somebody tell me recently yo, you should, just, why don't you post on YouTube? I said, well, yeah, I have a YouTube channel. I kind of started posting. They was like yo, no, no, no, no man, forget about the podcast. He's mad funny. Forget about the podcast, bro. Post all your videos that you're recording on YouTube, everything. You could chop it up and put the shorts on there. I started doing that, right, but I haven't been put in the full videos on YouTube. There is somebody out there who is looking for my content on YouTube. Specifically, there is somebody on Facebook waiting for me to post full time on Facebook. There is somebody who yo, you can't get them to open the Instagram app.
Speaker 1:I remember when TikTok shut down, people was up. Y'all were in a uproroar. There was a whole frenzy going on and people were discouraged. Oh god, I gotta go over to instagram now. As soon as tiktok came back, they haven't been on instagram since. There are people who are waiting for you to post your content, your business, what you do, what you provide, your content, your episodes of your podcast. They are waiting to see that on TikTok. Somebody is on Twitter over there on Twitter, waiting for me to start posting on Twitter. So let that be an encouragement to you. That's an encouragement to me, man, because I had no clue that the support was going to be coming from these different places and these different people, and so I'm so grateful, man, and I love you all. I really appreciate all the support and, like if it's one like bro, I appreciate it. If it's one download I've had, this is the seventh episode are going to be. If it's one like bro, I appreciate it. If it's one download I've had, this is the seventh episode or going to be. If there's only one that you have listened to, I appreciate it. That is enough for me.
Speaker 1:I am, it is my job to try my best to provide value right. That is what our, that is our job to provide value in the way that we know how I. I was so caught up and this is going to be maybe another episode down the line I'm in the process of shifting some things and trying to make things more digestible and and look better and stuff like that. I I got so caught up in the editing and this and that and how difficult it can be and the content being perfect and as or as perfect as I can get it, that it forced me to stop creating content. I didn't realize I'm working so hard on it that I haven't been putting anything out. That's ridiculous. That's counterproductive. I'm gonna, I'm gonna, I'm gonna get to that. That's gonna be a whole episode by itself, probably a whole chronicle by itself.
Speaker 1:So let me just keep focusing on the support. Your support is gonna come from the north. It's gonna come from the east. It's gonna come from the west. It's gonna come from the south. Yours, it's gonna come. God is going to send your support. He is going to send your engagement from places I don't know if this is prophetic. He's gonna send it from places that you did not expect it to come from. I am in them. I am watching him do it. He is in the middle of doing that for me.
Speaker 1:There are people supporting this podcast that I do not know. How is it that? People who know me and know the value I provide these are the people who call me on a phone. They have my phone number and they call me whenever they're in a dilemma, right, and I'm a mediator, and so you're calling me to mediate. You're calling me for advice. You're calling me for advice, and here I am feeding the world, or at least attempting to, and these are the same people who are not supporting what you thought they were going to support. Don't worry about that. Do not worry about that. Don't worry about that, because it's going to come. It's going to come, it's going to come, and it will not come from where you think it. I heard the song say it may not come when I want it. So it may not come when I want it, it may not come where I think it's going to be.
Speaker 1:Coming from that support, that monetization. A lot of people have a, you know, like a um, uh, a little tab on their their business page or their um if you page or if you're into coaching. You have your Cash App and your PayPal and your Zelle up there and you're waiting for people who you, you're expecting people who know you to be the ones to support you, but then you're blessing somebody across the world that you don't even know. You're helping change their life with what you do, with the purpose that you serve, and then your monetary support comes to your Cash App through that person, comes to your Zelle through that person. We got to keep going. You got to be resilient.
Speaker 1:This is, and this is, an encouragement to me. This is a word for me. This is a word for me. I am no longer looking to or looking for the support where I think it's supposed to come from I am. I am no longer it's supposed to come from. I am no longer expecting my viewership and my likes and my comments to come from the people I want it to come from. If you wait for that support to come from the people that know you, you might be waiting forever. Your business will die slowly if you solely cater to the people that know you. That's a word, man. That's a word your yo.
Speaker 1:I don't know who I'm talking to. I don't know who I'm talking to, but you provide a service that may not be meant for me. You, you provide a service that may not be meant for me. It may not be meant for your brother and your sister and your cousin. You are called to speak on things that may not relate to somebody that you know, but there are billions of people in this world that are waiting to hear what you have to say. There's another billion people waiting to see the product that you are going to create. Then there's another million people that are waiting to hear you and see you drop that course on that thing that you specialize in. There's another hundred thousand people you get where I'm going with this. There's another hundred thousand people somewhere that are waiting to see your website get posted, because they've been tracking you and following you for a while and admiring what it is you do for a while. Following you for a while and admiring what it is you do for a while. So yo, keep going. It is our job to continue going, keep going, keep creating, continue posting, continue editing, continue blogging, continue twitching, continue in school studying that thing that you weren't yo.
Speaker 1:I'm not sure will this be the thing that does it. Yo, you're on that path for a reason continue studying, graduate, get that degree in that specific field, because that is a niche that you are gonna create, or a niche, however you say it. There is a particular set of people that you are designed to lead. There is a need for who you are and what you provide. There is a need for that in this earth. You will not satisfy the appetites of everybody. You never will. We never will. I will never satisfy the appetite of every single person that this video reaches.
Speaker 1:You may not be my target audience. I may have thought it was you at one point, but it is okay that my content is not for you. It is okay that your content is not for me. It is okay that your service may not serve your brother or your sister, but there are people out there that are waiting for you. There are people that are going to find you, but you got to keep going in order for that to happen. You got to keep going in order for that to happen. You got to stay on that path in order for that to happen. You got to stay on that path in order for that to happen. You got to remain resilient and steadfast and unmovable in the things that you know you are called to do in order for that to happen.
Speaker 1:So press on and keep going, because there is a need for it. There is a need for it, there is a need for it, and there are many people that you do not know. They are going to be the ones that take your business to the next level. That community that you are set up in that may not look like the community that you have come from, the people in that area are going to be the ones that take your business to the next level. The people that do not look like you, the people that did not grow up with you look like you. The people that did not grow up with you, those are going to be the people that buy your course. Those are going to be your next clients. Those are going to be your next customers.
Speaker 1:So keep on going, man. Keep on going For whatever it's worth and whatever it means to you. I believe in you, and if there's anything I can do to help, let me know. Let me know. Hey, this is the moral compass chronicles. Another day, another chronicle. It's been a real busy, busy February. It's been a real tough February, but it's been a blessed one as well. Message and apply it to your life. Apply it to your life If it fits. If it fits you, then it's for you. If it fits you, then it's for you. Much love Until next time.
